Active and peaceful schooling fish, which requires a lot of swimming space, so a 150 cm tank or larger is necessary, with plants on the sides and background. A regular changing of the water and an strong filter is recommended.  The fish is very sensitive for nitrate.

The fish prefers live food but frozen food and dry flakes are also accepted.

Breeding is not easy.  The female should  be brought in breeding condition by feeding many times a day with great variety.  When the eggs (200-300) are spawned the parents must be removed.  After 4-6 days the eggs hatch and another 4 days later the young fishes are swimming free.  Then you should feed them with fine inforusia and a few days later with baby brine shrimp.
