Peaceful fish recommended for community tanks.  You must keep them as a pair.  The aquarium should be set up with stones, driftwood and roots and heavily planted on the sides and background.  In the middle you should leave enough free swimming area.  They are a little bit territorial.

They are omnivorous.  You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and vegetable food. Dry food also is accepted.

Breeding is easy.  Up to 500 eggs are laid on a flat stone and fertilized.  After hatching  the fry are moved by the parents to a previously-dug pit.  Both parents take care after the fry for a long time.  You can feed the young fishes with baby brine shrimp en fine dry food.
