These fishes are very aggressive to each other.  You should keep them in a rather large aquarium, otherwise they can fight till death.  They are very territorial.  The strongest man has the most intensive colours. The aquarium should be set up with a fine sandy substrate and a lot of fine leaved plants, because they need hiding places.  They like a lot of light and a regular changing of the water is necessary.

You should give them a variety of small live food and some algae.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is easy.  The eggs are laid and fertilized in a mop daily.  You should remove the eggs to another small tank.  After 8-10 days the eggs hatch.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with baby brine shrimp.
