Family : Characidae
Origin : Rio Paraguay
Length : 4 cm - 1,5"
Min.length aquarium : 60 cm - 22"
English name : Dawn Tetra
Peaceful schooling fish for the community aquarium.  Don't keep them with fishes that are much bigger. The aquarium should be well planted on the sides and the background.  In the middle you should leave very much free swimming space.  The light should be dimmed.  Use some floating plants as well to provide areas of shade.  The substrate should be dark to bring out the colours of this fish.

You should give them small live food as Artemia, Cyclops and waterflees.

Breeding is difficult.  The water should be soft and acid.  The eggs are laid between fine leaved plants.  After spawning the parents should  be removed.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them very fine infusoria.  After a few weeks they accept baby brine shrimp.
