Family : Cichlidae
Origin : Peru
Length : 8 cm - 3"
Min.length aquarium : 80 cm - 30"
English name :  Panduro Dwarf Cichlid
Peaceful dwarfcichlid that you must keep as a pair.  If you want to keep more couples you need a large aquarium of at least 130 cm (50").  The aquarium should be set up with stones, driftwood and roots, and on the sides and background densely planted, because they need hiding places.  You can keep them together with other small schooling fish of the upper swimming levels or Corydoras.

You should give them small live food.

Breeding is easy when you have the right water quality.  Up to 100 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  After 2-3 days the eggs hatch.  At that time the parents are rather aggressive.  The female takes care of the young and the male defends the territory.  You can feed the young with baby brine shrimp.
