Family : Poeciliidae
Origin : Mexico, Honduras
Length : 20 cm - 8"
Min. length aquarium : 180 cm - 70"
English name : Pike Livebearer
You should keep this predatory fish together with other larger fishes, because smaller fish are eaten.  The aquarium should be set up with plants that can live in very hard water such as Giant Vallisneria, and driftwood and roots that make hiding places.  A strong filter is necessary.  You should add some salt to the water. (1 spoon at 10 liters of water)

You should give them large live food such as fish.

Breeding is very easy in a large aquarium.  They are viviparous and up to 100 young fishes are born regularly.  Because the parents think it is food you should remove the young immediately.  When they are born they are already 2-3 cm (1") large.  You can raise them with fine crushed dry food.  They grow quickly.
