Smallest of al known characins. You can keep them in a
very small aquarium. It is a very lively schooling
fish that you can keep together with other small characins.
The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and
background. In the middle you should leave enough free
swimming space. A dimmed light by using a lot of
floating plants, a dark substrate and a peat filter bring
out the colours of the fish.
You should give them small live food such as Artemia. Breeding is not difficult. Every day a few eggs are laid and fertilized. After 2-3 weeks the parents should be moved to a separate aquarium. The breeding aquarium should be checked for young. When they are g=free swimming you can feed tem with very small infusoria. |
