Peaceful, calm fish that can be kept together with other
large and peaceful cichlids. The aquarium should be
set up with stones, driftwood and roots that make hiding
places. Because they eat plants, it is not wise to use
plants for decoration. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A large part of the food should be vegetable such as spinach and spirulina. Breeding is possible with a good matching couple. The best way to get a good matching couple is to raise a group of unrelated juveniles to sexual maturity and allow them to pair off. The best pair should be chosen and the others should be removed. The eggs are laid and fertilized on a previously cleaned substrate. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food. |
