English name : Mexican Mojarra
This fish is not very aggressive to species of their own kind and to other species as well.  There is one condition : the aquarium should be large enough for them.  Then you can keep them with smaller fish rather well.  The aquarium should be set up with driftwood, roots and stones that make hiding places.  You can use some plants for decoration as well.  A territory is made.

You should give them live food.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is rather easy.  Up to 600 eggs are laid and fertilized on a flat stone.  The female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory.  After 3 days the eggs hatch.  The parents move the fry to breeding pits.  A few days later the young fishes are swimming free.  You can raise them with bay brine shrimp.
