Corydoras paleatus

Explanation of the symbols

Family : Callichthyidae
Origin : Brazil
Length : 7 cm - 2.8"
Min. length aquarium : 80 cm - 30"
English name : Marbled Corydoras
This fish should be kept in a small school of at least 6 fish.  The aquarium should be planted densely.  A part of the bottom of the aquarium should be free and should be sandy because they like to search after food in it and their tender barbels are easily damaged.

They are omnivorous but they prefer live food that hides in the substrate such as Tubifex.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not difficult.  The fertilized eggs are stuck on the plants or in the corners of the aquarium.  They spawn during several days. After 5 days the first eggs hatch.  At that moment the parents should be removed.  You can raise the young with very fine infusoria and baby brine shrimp.
