Peaceful. small and somewhat shy bottomdweller that should
be kept in a school. You can keep them together with
other peaceful fishes. The aquarium should be planted
densely. A part of the bottom of the aquarium should
be free and should be sandy because they like to search
after food in it and their tender barbels are easily
damaged. Because they are very sensitive for nitrate a
regular changing of the water is necessary. A strong
filter is appreciated. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. Breeding is not easy. The water should be very clean without too much nitrates. A large changing of the water can be conducive to spawning. A large aquarium is necessary. For spawning you should use several males and females. |
