Crenicara punctulatum

Explanation of the symbols

Family : Cichlidae
Origin : Guyana, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru
Length : 12 cm - 4.7"
Min. length aquarium : 120 cm - 45"
Rather peaceful fish, only during breeding time he is somewhat aggressive.  A territory is made.  For decoration you can use plants.  The aquarium should be set up with driftwood and roots because they need hiding places and some flat stones.  You can keep them together with some small characins.  You should keep one male together with several females.  Some sources say, when there is no male present, the dominant female changes into a male.

You should give them live food.  They hardly get accustomed to dry food.

About breeding in the aquarium nothing is known.
