Rather peaceful fish.  Only during breeding time they defend a territory.  The aquarium should be set op with stones, driftwood and roots that make hiding places.  You should not keep this fish in water that is too cold.  A regular changing of the water is recommended.

You should give them small live food such as Artemia, Mysis and mosquito larvae.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

When the water conditions are good, breeding is rather easy.  The eggs are laid and fertilized on a substrate.  The eggs are defended by both parents.  When the eggs are hatched the parent move the larvae to a breeding pit.  Even when the young are swimming free both parents care for them a long time.  They can be raised with baby brine shrimp.
