Peaceful schooling fish that you can keep in a community
aquarium. The aquarium should be planted well on the
sides and background. The substrate should be dark and
the light must be dimmed to bring out the colours of this
fish. You can use some floating plants for that purpose.
You should give them several times a day small amounts of small live or dry food. Breeding is not difficult. The water should be soft and slightly acid and the temperature must be about 28° (82°F). The eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants. After spawning the parents should be removed. The eggs hatch after 24 hours. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with rotifers and fine crushed dry food. |
