Peaceful schooling fish that should be kept with other
peaceful fishes. He is not easy to keep because he is
very sensitive for nitrate. A frequent changing of the
water is necessary. The aquarium should be well
planted on the sides and background. In the middle you
should leave a lot of free swimming space. You should give them small live of frozen food. Dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is not very easy. In soft and acid water the eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants. Because they eat their own eggs the parents should be removed immediately after spawning. The eggs hatch after 30 - 36 hours and after 4 days the young fishes are swimming free. You can raise them with very fine infusoria and a few days later with baby brine shrimp.
