This fish is not very tolerant to other species.  In a large school they are now and then small "Piranhas" and they attack weaker fishes and then they nip their fins.  They do this when they are not fed well enough.  Normally they are suited for the community aquarium.

You should give them live food such as mosquito larvae and Artemia.

Breeding is not very easy.  You should select the fishes very well.  Some females never have eggs.  You should plant the breeding aquarium very dense. The temperature should be at least 26°C  (79°F).  After spawning the parents should be removed.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with very fine infusoria, and later with baby brine shrimp.  The water should be changed regularly in small amounts.
