Peaceful schooling fish for the community aquarium with soft and acid water.  The aquarium should be planted densely and the light should be dimmed.  When the light is too bright they get shy and pale.  A peat filter is recommendable.

You should give them small live food.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not easy.  The water should be soft and acid (Ph < 6 and Gh < 3).  At a temperature of 28°C (82°F) and a dimmed light the eggs are laid and fertilized.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with very fine infusoria and later with Artemia-nauplii.  A regularly changing of the water is necessary.
