Peaceful fish with only one problem, he likes to eat soft
plants. If you can give him an aquarium planted with
hard plants it is an excellent fish for the community
aquarium and suited for the beginner as well. He is omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A large part of the food should be vegetable. Breeding is not difficult. The breeding aquarium should have a substrate of marbles or a spawning grid to prevent the parents to eat their own eggs and some javamoss. Up to 800 eggs are laid and fertilized. After spawning the parents should be removed. After 24 hours the eggs hatch and after 2 days the young fishes are swimming free. You can feed them the first days with very fine infusoria and a few days later with baby brine shrimp. |
