| Peaceful fish that can be kept together with other
South-American cichlids.  You should set up the
aquarium with driftwood and roots that create hiding places.
Some large, hard plants can be used as well.  A few
flat, sloping stones are necessary for spawning.  A
dimmed light brings out the colours of the fish. You should give them powerful life food. Frozen and dry food are accepted as well. Breeding is not difficult. 400-800 eggs are laid and fertilized on a flat stone, preferably just below the water surface. After 3 days the eggs hatch and the parents bring the fry to a breeding pit. Another 6 days later the young fishes are swimming free. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
