You should keep this fish as a couple because they are very intolerant to species of their own kind.  The aquarium should be set up with stones and rocks to create holes and hiding places. In the middle there should be enough free swimming space. You can use some plants that can live in water with a high Ph such as Vallisneria.  A territory is made.

They are omnivorous.  You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food.

Breeding is rather easy.  At higher temperatures up to 300 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  After 3 days the eggs hatch.  The parents don't care for the fry, but they defend the territory fanatic, so many young in the territory survive.
