Peaceful, somewhat shy fish that you should keep in a large school together with other peaceful fishes.  The aquarium should be planted densely and some floating plants are necessary.  A dimmed light and a dark substrate bring out the colours of the fish.  You should cover the aquarium well because they are very good jumpers.

You should give them small live food.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not easy.  The water should be very acid and very soft.  A small amount of eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants near de bottom of the aquarium.  After spawning the parents should be removed.  The young fishes are very small and you only can feed them with very small dustfood such as paramecia and rotifers.
