Peaceful fish that is suited for the community aquarium with
very hard water. The aquarium should be planted with
Vallisneria and other plants that can live in hard water.
For the protection of young fishes you should use some
floating plants. When you change the water it is wise
to add a teaspoon of salt at 10 liters of water.
They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A part of the food should be vegetable. Breeding is rather easy. They are viviparous. Every 2 months 10 - to 60 young fishes are born. When the parents are fed well and there are enough hiding places between the plants a large number of young fishes will survive. |
