Active and peaceful schooling fish that can be kept best in a species aquarium that is especially set up for rainbow fishes.  The aquarium should be planted densely on the sides and background.

You should give them mainly small live food.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

Breeding is easy.  They lay their eggs daily between fine leaved plants.  The eggs hatch after a week.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with Artemia-nauplii.  When the parents are well fed they ignore the young.
