Active and peaceful schooling fish. The aquarium
should be planted on the sides and background. In the
middle you should leave a lot of free swimming space.
They like a sunny place in the morning sun. A regular
changing of the water is necessary. You can feed them with live food, but dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is not difficult. Up to 200 eggs are laid and fertilized in the morning between fine leaved plants. At a temperature of 25°C (77°F) the eggs hatch after a week. When the parents are well fed they ignore the eggs and the young fishes. The young fishes grow quickly when you feed them small infusoria and fine crushed dry food. |
