|
Peaceful schooling fish that needs a lot of free swimming
space. The aquarium should be set up with driftwood,
roots and stones. You can use some hard plants for
decoration as well. Soft plants are eaten. A
dimmed light by using floating plants is appreciated.
You should give them vegetable food such as lettuce. Large flakes are accepted as well. Breeding is not difficult. Up to 2000 eggs are laid and fertilized between the roots of floating plants. The eggs sink to the bottom of the aquarium. After 3 days the eggs hatch and another 3 days later the young fishes are swimming free. After 2 days they start eating very fine infusoria. |
