This fish is rather aggressive to species of their own kind.
You should keep them as a pair. The aquarium should be
set up with a substrate of fine gravel and a lot of rocks
that form caves and crevices. Some plants can be used for
decoration as well. They are omnivorous but they prefer powerful live food such as crustaceans and mosquito larvae. Dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is rather easy. Up to 200 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave. The female guards the cave and the fry. The male defends the territory. The eggs hatch after 4-5 days and after 2 weeks the young fishes are swimming free. The parents care for the fry a long time. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food. |
