Family : Cichlidae
Origin : Lake Tanganyika
Length : 10 cm - 4"
Min. length aquarium : 120 cm - 50"
This fish should be kept in a school.  Only during breeding time they form pairs with their own territory.  Then they are rather aggressive.  The aquarium should be set up with rocks and stones that form crevices and  caves.  You should leave enough free swimming space.  Some plants can be used for decoration as well.

You should give them live food.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

Breeding is rather easy.  Up to 100 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  Both parents defend the territory.  After a week the young fishes leave the cave.  Now they have to take care for them selves.  You can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food.
