This fish needs a large territory and the male defend it very fanatic. They are very aggressive.  The aquarium should be decorated with a lot of rocks and stones that form caves and crevices.  A regular changing of the water is necessary.

They are omnivorous.  You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food.

Breeding is very difficult. They are very productive.   Up to 400  eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  The female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory very aggressive.  After a week the young fishes are swimming free.  You can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food.
