You should keep this peaceful fish in very hard water.
To make water harder you can use dolomite. It is also
wise to add some seasalt (about 25 grams at 10 liters of
water). You can use some hard plants that can live in
that water. You should leave enough free swimming
space.
They like to eat algae and other vegetable food. Dry food and insect larvae are accepted as well. Breeding is not easy. They are viviparous. Males that are born in captivity seldom have the dorsal fin such as the fishes that are caught in their natural habitat. You can raise the young fishes with algae, baby brine shrimp and fine crushed vegetable dry food. |
