This fish is rather aggressive to species of their own kind.
The aquarium should be set up with a lot of rocks and stones
that form caves and crevices because they need hiding
places. Plants can be used for decoration as well.
A territory is made. You should keep one male together
with several females. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. Breeding is rather easy. 25-30 eggs are laid and immediately taken in the mouth by the female. The eggs are fertilized by the male using the dummy egg method. After two weeks the young fishes leave the mouth of the mother for the first time. After that the female takes care of them another few days. You can raise the young fishes with baby brine shrimp. |
