|
Lively, peaceful schooling fish, very well suited for a
small community aquarium. The aquarium should be
planted densely on the sides and background because they nee
hiding places. In the middle you should leave enough
free swimming space. A dark substrate and a dimmed
light bring out the colours of the fish. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. Breeding is not easy. The water should be extremely soft and rather acid. The eggs are laid and fertilized under the leaves of plants. After spawning the parents should be removed and the aquarium should be darkened. After 24 hours the eggs hatch. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with very fine infusoria. |
