Calm, somewhat shy fish that should be kept in a group.
The aquarium should be set up with hard plants, driftwood
and stones that can mark territories. The water should
be changed regularly with small amounts. Large
fluctuations in water quality should be avoided.
They are omnivorous but they prefer easily digested food such as Artemia and Mysis. Dry food is accepted as well. Don't give food with too large portions. It is better to give several times a day small amounts of food. Breeding is rather easy in the first instance. The eggs are laid and fertilized on a flat stone. Both parents care for the fry. When the young fishes have reached the length of 3-4 cm (1,5") they often dye of indigestion. It is necessary to feed very carefully. . |
