Peaceful fish that needs a lot of free swimming space.  He can be kept together with peaceful larger fishes.  You need a powerful filter.  On the sides and background the aquarium should be planted densely.  You should use floating plants as well.

They are omnivorous, so you should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food.  They are very fond of algae.

Breeding is very easy.  This viviparous fish give birth every 2 months to 10 - 50 young fishes.  When they are born they are already 10-15 mm (0.4"-0.6").  You can raise them with fine crushed dry food and Artemia-nauplii.  The youngsters swim mainly between the roots of floating plants.
