Peaceful fish that you can keep in almost every community
aquarium. The aquarium should be planted densely on
the sides and background. In the middle you should
leave a lot of free swimming space. It is not wise to
keep them together with other Xiphophorus species, because
they crossbreed and crossbreeding is unwanted. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A great part of the food should be vegetable. Breeding is easy. They are viviparous and young fishes regularly are born. You should create enough hiding places between the roots of (floating) plants. You can raise the young fishes with Artemia-nauplii and fine crushed dry food. |
