Rather peaceful fish to other species. In the breeding
season it is rather aggressive. The best you keep them
as a couple. The tank should be set up with driftwood ,rocks
and some flat stones. It is an easy omnivorous fish. You can give it a great variety of food. Dry and frozen food are accepted. Breeding is not so difficult. 200- 300 eggs are
laid on a flat stone. Two days later they hatch.
Both parents now take the youngsters in their mouth for
further breeding. After 8 days the young fishes are
swimming free, but when there is danger they hide in the
mouth of the parents for several weeks. You can feed
the young with newly-hatched brine shrimp. |
