This fish should be kept as a couple. Except during
breeding time they are quiet and peaceful, sometimes timid
fish. They are frightnened very quickly and then react
with quick changing of colours and panicky swimming.
The tank should me set up with enough hiding places. You
can do that with plenty of driftwood and plants. The
fish is territorial. A frequent changing of the water
and a powerful filter are necessary. The fish is omnivorous. You should feed him with big live or frozen food. Breeding is not easy. The eggs are laid on a flat substrate. The female takes care for the eggs and the male is defending the territory. After three day the eggs hatch and then both parents take care of the fry. After four days the young fish are swimming free. Then you can feed them newly-hatched brine shrimp. |
