Origin : Peru

Min.length aquarium : 150 cm - 60"
In e new aquarium this fish is rather shy, but later it becomes very aggressive to others, especially smaller fish.  The tank should be set up with a lot of plants, stones and driftwood because a lot of hiding places are needed.  They defend a territory.

They are omnivorous.  You should give them a great variety of live and frozen food.  Dry flakes are accepted as well.

For breeding you need a good matching couple.  The eggs are laid on a stone and fertilized by the male.  Both parents defend very the fry very aggressive.  After the young are swimming free you should feed them newly-hatched brine shrimp.
