When you keep him in an aquarium that is large enough, this
is a cal and rather peaceful fish. The aquarium should
be set up with stones, driftwood and roots. A sandy
substrate is appreciated. Because the dig in the
substrate while they are searching for food, plants can not
be used for decoration.
In his natural habitat they eat detritus and insect larvae. In the aquarium you can feed them with normal cichlid food and beef heart. Breeding is not difficult. It is wise to pair them off at young age. A territory is made. A small amount of eggs are laid and fertilized on a stone. Both parents care for the fry. The eggs hatch after 3 days. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with baby brine shrimp and fine crushed dry food. |
