| These fishes are peaceful to other species, but males are
very aggressive to each other.  When you have a small
aquarium it is better to keep only one male with several
females.  The aquarium should be planted densely.  A
dark substrate (for instance peat dust) and dimmed light
brings out the colours of the fish. You should give them small live food. Breeding is not difficult. The eggs are laid and fertilized in a spawning mop. They are laid in peat dust as well. After 2-3 weeks the eggs hatch. It is also possible to collect the peat dust and keep it dry in a plastic bag for a month. When you pour fresh water upon the eggs, they hatch immediately. You can raise the young fishes with small infusoria and a few days later with baby brine shrimp. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
