Peaceful fish that you can keep as a pair in a small aquarium.  In a larger aquarium you can keep one male together with several females.  Inside the large territory of the male females have their own small territory.  The aquarium should be planted densely and can also be decorated wilt driftwood and roots that make hiding places and caves.  A dimmed light and a dark substrate are appreciated.

You should give them small live food such as water flees, Cyclops and insect larvae.

When you have the right water conditions (very soft and acid) breeding is not difficult.  Up to 1200 eggs are laid and fertilized in a cave.  The female cares for the fry and the male defends the territory.  When the young fishes are swimming free the male cares for them as well.  You can raise them with baby brine shrimp.
