Family : Poeciliidae
Origin : Guinea, Senegal, Gambia
Length : 4,5 cm - 2"
Min.length aquarium : 60 cm - 25"
English name : Lambert's lampeye
Like most lampeys you should keep this fish in a group or a school.  On the sides and the background the aquarium should be planted densely.  In the middle you must leave a lot of free swimming space.  A powerful filter and a regular changing of the water is necessary.  The animals are very good jumpers, so you should cover the aquarium well.  They are very sensitive for fungus.

You should give them a great variety of small live food.

Breeding is not difficult.  In a breeding tank you can keep one male and several females.  The eggs are laid and fertilized in a spawning mop.  You should remove the eggs to a shallow tank with an anti fungus product.  After 14 days they hatch.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with baby brine shrimp.
