Min.length aquarium : 50 cm - 20"
English name : Lamp-eye panchax
Lively and peaceful schooling fish for the upper water layers.  On the sides and the background the aquarium should be planted densely.  In the middle you should leave a lot of free swimming space.  The substrate should be dark and the light must be dimmed to bring out the colours of this fish.  The fishes are very good jumpers, so you must cover the aquarium well.

You should give them small live food.  Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not difficult.  During 14 days 150 - 300 eggs are laid and fertilized between fine leaved plants.  After this period the parents should be removed.  The fry hatches some days later.  When the young fishes are swimming free they eat immediately very small live food and baby brine shrimp.  The eldest youngster should be removed after a few days because they think their younger brothers and sisters are food.  They are very sensitive for infusoria.
