Not a real schooling fish , but nevertheless you should keep them with a minimum of 10.  Males are rather aggressive to each other.  On the sides and the background the aquarium should be planted densely.  In the middle you should leave a lot of free swimming space.  A regular changing of the water is necessary.  The fishes are very good jumpers, so you should cover the aquarium well.

You should give them small live or frozen food.  Crushed dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding is not difficult.  In a spawning mop they lay and fertilize their eggs daily.  You should remove the eggs to a shallow tank.  After 12 - 14 days they hatch.  When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with baby brine shrimp.
