Not a real schooling fish , but nevertheless you should keep
them with a minimum of 10. Males are rather aggressive
to each other. On the sides and the background the
aquarium should be planted densely. In the middle you
should leave a lot of free swimming space. A regular changing
of the water is necessary. The fishes are very good
jumpers, so you should cover the aquarium well. You should give them small live or frozen food. Crushed dry food is accepted as well. Breeding is not difficult. In a spawning mop they lay and fertilize their eggs daily. You should remove the eggs to a shallow tank. After 12 - 14 days they hatch. When the young fishes are swimming free you can raise them with baby brine shrimp. |
