Min.length aquarium : 60 cm - 25"
English name : Tanganyika lampeye
Peaceful, shy schooling fish that should be kept together with other small and peaceful fishes.  The aquarium should be set up with a lot of plants on the sides and the background together with some driftwood and roots to provide hiding places.  A lot of free swimming space should be left in the middle.  The substrate should be dark and the light must be dimmed to bring out the colours of this fish.  A regular changing of the water is necessary.  In soft water the fish is rather sensitive for tuberculosis.

You should give them small live food.  They accept dry food occasionally.

Breeding is in soft and acid water not difficult.  The eggs are laid and fertilized in a spawning mop.  The eggs should be removed to a shallow tank.  After 10 days the eggs hatch.  The young fishes can be raised with fine infusoria and a few days later with baby brine shrimp.
