Family : Aplocheilidae
Origin : India, Sri Lanka
Length : 10 cm - 4"
Min.length aquarium : 100 cm - 40"
English name : Striped Panchax
This predatory fish is sometimes also aggressive to each other.  He only can be kept with bigger fish, because he thinks that smaller fishes are food.  The aquarium should be well covered because he jumps very good.   The aquarium must be well-planted on the sides and background, some floating plants and have a dark gravel substrate.  In the middle there should be a lot of free swimming space.

He is omnivorous but he prefers live food especially during mating season..

Breeding is at higher temperatures rather easy.  The eggs are laid in a spawning mop. After spawning you should remove the mop and bring it to another aquarium.  The young fishes hatch after to weeks and when they are swimming free you should feed them very fine infusoria.  Breeding time for the parents may not last longer then a week.  After that you should lower the temperature again.
