This fish is not very aggressive except during breeding
time. You should keep them as a pair. The
aquarium should be set up with stones, driftwood and roots
that make hiding places. Some well anchored hard
plants can be used for decoration as well. A territory
is made. They are omnivorous. You should give them a great variety of live, frozen and dry food. A part of the food should be vegetable. Breeding is not difficult with a good matching couple. 600 - 1000 eggs are laid and fertilized under roots or on stones. After 3 days the eggs hatch. The fry is regularly moved by the parents to flat breeding pits. When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with baby brine shrimp and some days later with fine crushed dry food. |
