Males of this fish are rather aggressive to each other.
You should keep one male with several females. The
aquarium should be set up with rocks and stones to create
holes and hiding places. The substrate should be sandy.
A territory is made. You should give them live food such as insect larvae and Artemia. Frozen and dry food are accepted as well. Breeding is not difficult. After spawning the female takes the eggs in the mouth immediately. They are fertilized by the male using the dummy-egg method. The eggs are incubated in the mouth of the female. After three weeks the young fishes leave the mouth of the female. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp. |
