Shy, peaceful species that can be kept together with other calm fishes in a special aquarium.  The aquarium should be planted densely and a dimmed light by using a dark substrate and floating plants is recommended.  You should not change the water with too large amounts because they are sensitive for strong changing water values.  They are very sensitive for nitrate.

You should give them small live food.  You should be very careful, because they are very sensitive for food coming from polluted water.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

Breeding is not easy.  The water should be soft and acid.  The eggs are laid and fertilized on the water surface.  The male takes the eggs in his mouth immediately after that.  After 6-12 days the young fishes leave the mouth of the father.  You can feed them baby brine shrimp.
