You should keep this fish in a special aquarium for a few couples.  Perhaps you can keep them together with some other small and peaceful fishes.  In the community aquarium that is too busy they get shy and hide.  The aquarium should be large enough and planted densely. They are very sensitive for all kinds of illness.  You should keep the aquarium very clean.

You should give them small live food.  Food from polluted water is dangerous to give.  They like black mosquito larvae.  Dry food is accepted as well occasionally.

Breeding is not easy.  They are viviparous and after a gestation period of 4 weeks 10-20 young fishes are born.  They can be raised with very fine infusoria.  It is better not to give baby brine shrimp.  They like to eat small algae.
