Peaceful schooling fish that should be kept with at least 6 species.  They like a dark and fine sandy substrate that is not too sharp because they like to search after food in it and their tender barbels are easily damaged.  The aquarium should be densely planted.

He is omnivorous but he prefers small live food.  Frozen and dry food are accepted as well.

For breeding you need more males and females.  During 2 weeks the female lays up to 30 eggs.  The female lays 3 to 5 eggs per spawning against the glass or another substrate. When the young fishes are swimming free you can feed them with rotifers.  A week later you can give them fine crushed dry food.
